Lunch-and-learn being organized to explain ACOA’s support programs

For entrepreneurs, municipalities and community organisations

conferencieres-apecaWELLINGTON – Sept. 9, 2016 – All existing and potential francophone entrepreneurs, municipalities and organisations looking to develop community projects are invited to attend an informational lunch-and-learn Thursday, Sept. 29, in Wellington to learn more about the support programs offered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

Two of ACOA’s economic development officers, Deborah Doucette and Jackie Beauregard, will be at the Wellington Rural Action Centre that day at 12 noon to explain in French the eligibility criteria and the proposal process for:

  • The Innovative Communities Fund (ICF), which invests in strategic projects that build the economies of Atlantic Canada’s communities;
  • The Business Development Program (BDP), which can help entrepreneurs set up, expand or modernize their business. It can also provide financing to develop innovative ideas and improve competitiveness. Focusing on small- and medium-sized enterprises, this program offers repayable assistance. Non-profit organizations providing support to the business community may also qualify for non-refundable funding;
  • The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, which supports projects that rehabilitate existing community facilities across Canada, ensuring a lasting impact for the 150th anniversary celebrations of Confederation in 2017.

The development officers will gladly answer any questions. They will also be able to set up individual appointments with participants who may want to discuss potential projects.

The Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI will jointly present this hour-long lunch-and-learn, which offers a light meal to participants. The registration fee ($5 for Chamber members and $10 for non-members) will cover the meal.

Those wishing to participate are asked to contact Velma Robichaud at (902) 854-3439, Ext. 228, or at velma@rdeeipe.org no later than Sept. 26. The number of places is limited.
