CDS presentation to explain services offered to individuals, employees and employers

WELLINGTON – Aug. 29, 2017 – A lunch-and-learn, slated for Sept. 19 at noontime at the Wellington Rural Action Centre (RAC), is being organized to provide French-speaking individuals, employees and employers an overview of the supports they can expect to receive from Career Development Services’ six branch offices.

Career development practitioner Jackie Stewart, who will be making the presentation in French, explains she has been working in the field with CDS since 2011. “On a daily basis, we assist clients with job readiness skills, funding information, program information, career exploration, goal setting, government employment applications, college applications, etc. All of us at CDS are client-driven so we typically provide whatever resources the client is looking for to help them find employment that fits their life.”

She adds that “This past year, we have been working more with employers to assist in helping them find the right person for the job through advertising, providing preliminary screening, etc.”

Whether a person is looking for work, changing careers, returning to the workforce or exploring career and training opportunities, CDS can help. “We offer a friendly and confidential environment where you are able to learn about career options, discover your skills and abilities, and search for employment,” notes Stewart. “Our mission is to support, guide, and encourage individuals to reach their career goals.”

CDS offices are located in Bloomfield, Wellington, Summerside, Charlottetown, Montague and Souris. Stewart is based out of Bloomfield but usually spends Tuesdays at the Wellington RAC.

The hour-long lunch-and-learn, running from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., is being organized by the Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI.

Those interested in participating must register by Sept. 15 by contacting Velma Robichaud at 902-854-3439, Ext. 228, or velma@rdeeipe.org. The registration fee, which covers a light lunch, is $5 for members of the Acadian Chamber and $10 for non-members.
