ABRAM-VILLAGE – Sept. 23, 2017 – Everyone is invited to attend the benefit family Mega-Bingo for a chance to win a wide variety of merchandise and gift cards worth more than $3,000 Sunday, Oct.15, at 2 p.m. in the Evangeline School cafeteria in Abram-Village.

Among the prizes to be won are a TV, a gym membership, binoculars, tickets to several shows, a $100 Visa card, gas cards, $100 in seafood, bed sheets and a comforter set, books, $500 of shale/gravel or ground work, event decor, gift bags and numerous gift cards. All have been donated by businesses and organizations in the Evangeline and Summerside regions.

All income and cash donations from the event will be contributed directly to the Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank and the Tyne Valley Caring Cupboard, which are both in dire need of assistance, especially as the fall and winter seasons arrive.

This benefit event is being organized jointly by the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce, the Evangeline-Central Credit Union, Wellington Co-op, the Wellington Rural Action Centre and RDÉE Prince Edward Island.

« These last few years, we’ve organized casinos and game show nights as social events for Coop and Small Business Week. This year, the committee instead suggested an event for the whole family, » says committee member Raymond J. Arsenault.

The event will consist of 15 games, each offering a prize worth a minimum of $100. Cards will be sold for $5 a packet. Participants will also be able to make cash donations in the amount of their choice for the food banks; they’ll also have a chance to buy 50-50 tickets. A canteen service will be provided.

« We’re reminding everyone to bring their bingo dabbers, » adds Arsenault.

The event is being sponsored by the Coopérative de communication communautaire.
