And four other sites in waiting

WELLINGTON – July 4, 2019 – The Prince Edward Island component of Canada’s Francophone Heritage, Cultural and Tourism Corridor continues to evolve with the addition of four attractions in late spring. And four more attractions are waiting to be added.

In recent weeks, the 2019 Congrès mondial acadien (which will be held in part on the Island in August), Chez Yvette B&B in Urbainville, Fanningbank (the official residence of Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Perry) in Charlottetown and the Mill River Experience (hotel and golf course) in Woodstock were each given their own page in the PEI section of the corridor at https://corridorcanada.ca. Their individual pages give a brief overview of the attraction and feature photos. This same section also features two new videos: « Acadian Experience » and « Prince Edward Island ».

All this is in addition to the 13 profiles of cultural, heritage and tourist sites that were already on the site, all with photos and some with videos. Other facets have been added to the portal’s home page over the past year.

« If we consider the quantity of attractions listed, we see that Prince Edward Island has proportionately the largest representation of all the provinces and territories in the country, » says Gilles Arsenault, RDÉE Prince Edward Island’s tourism development officer.

He added that profiles of four other Island attractions are also being prepared for inclusion in the next phase of the site. Several of the other provinces and territories have also added new elements in recent months.

The objective of this portal, which was developed by RDÉE Canada and its provincial and territorial partners, is to feature attractions and sites that offer services in French, from one end of the country to the other. It allows visitors to plan their trips in specific provinces or throughout the entire country.

The portal also highlights the country’s new classification system for French-language services.
