Entrepreneurs invited to free breakfast-and-learn on social media promotions

SUMMERSIDE – Aug. 29, 2019 – “Let’s Get Social” – a free breakfast-and-learn focusing on using social media and video to promote local businesses, services and products – will feature presentations by two well-known Summerside personalities: Jamie MacPhail from ADL and Myles MacKinnon from Centennial KIA.

The event, slated for Thursday, Oct. 3, at 8 a.m. at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside, is being jointly organized and sponsored by the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI and the Wellington Rural Action Centre.

Members of both chambers as well as other business people are invited to attend to learn from the experiences of the two speakers, who will both share how they have succeeded in developing campaigns to promote their respective employer’s products and services.

Jamie MacPhail is the corporate secretary and communications director with ADL. He is responsible for all marketing, communications and producer relations. He also manages all ADL social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) along with the corporate website.

Myles MacKinnon is a sales associate with Centennial KIA who has been using social media to his advantage by creating short interactive video clips.

“Social media tends to be a hot topic for workshops as businesses are recognizing the power of social networks,” says Tara Maddix, executive director of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce. “Jamie and Myles are two of our GSCC members who are using social platforms to reach their targeted audiences and create engagement.”

The breakfast-and-learn venue can accommodate a maximum of 25 people. Registration will therefore be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, send an email to info@summersidechamber.com.

A number of door prizes will be given out.
