Looking for hole sponsors and prize donors for 15th Acadian Golf Tournament

WOODSTOCK – July 15, 2021 – Organizers of the 15th Annual Acadian Golf Tournament are seeking hole, game and prize sponsors for their fun and friendly sporting event, scheduled for Sept. 12 at 12 p.m. at Mill River Golf Course in Woodstock.

Their long-time sponsor, Chris Buote, owner of North Rustico Home Hardware, has just confirmed that he will sponsor the event in two ways this year: he will offer a nice prize – a Dewalt reciprocating saw valued at $160 – for some sort of contest and will become a hole sponsor. He invites other Island businesses to do the same.

“Proceeds from this annual tournament, from corporate and organizational sponsorships, will help ensure that over 150 Island youth will have the opportunity to participate in the Jeux de l’Acadie program, including the upcoming Finals in Quispamsis and Saint John, New Brunswick, which we hope will be held in June 2022,” explains tournament coordinator Jeannette Gallant. “Normally, the tournament generates between $7,000 and $7,500 in profits. We hope that despite the pandemic that seems to be coming to an end, we will be able to collect an amount comparable to those collected in recent editions of the tournament.”

After a year off because of the pandemic, the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI (CCAFLIPE) are pleased to bring back their largest annual fundraiser, which also promotes active living for adults.

“As always, we invite businesses and organizations to sponsor one or more holes for $100 each. In exchange, we offer these sponsors the placement of a sign with their company or organization logo near the tee block of the sponsored hole as well as the inclusion of their name on the programs we will distribute to all participants,” said the tournament coordinator, who is also the Regional Committee coordinator. “Similarly, for those who sponsor contests and offer larger prizes, we place their sign in the contest area or near the prize and announce their sponsorship at the dinner at the end of the tournament”

Raymond J. Arsenault, CCAFLIPE event coordinator, says, “We accept all kinds of giveaways or promotional items that we will offer as contest prizes or door prizes to our participants.” He adds that the Chamber will continue to sponsor a small game that will provide a number of prizes equal to number of the tournament’s edition. Since this year is the 15th tournament, the Chamber will be giving away 15 prizes.

Again this year, the main sponsor of the tournament is the Évangéline-Central Credit Union.

Anyone interested in becoming a hole or prize sponsor or donating door prizes is asked to contact Gallant at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca or at (902) 439-2791 no later than Aug. 31.

Those who would like to participate in the tournament as golfers are also invited to register their team of four for $400 by contacting Gallant.
