WCB safety training for new and seasonal employees coming to Wellington RAC May 21

WELLINGTON – April 15, 2024 – The Workers Compensation Board of PEI will be holding a free information session, tailored for seasonal Island workers and employers, Tuesday, May 21, at the Wellington Rural Action Centre (RAC). The board is aiming to deepen their comprehension of their roles and responsibilities surrounding occupational health and safety (OHS).

The Wellington session, organized jointly by the RAC and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI, will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The presentation will be given in English only.

This session will focus on worker orientation, supervisor responsibilities, and awareness of safety for new and young workers. Education consultant Jeremy MacEachern will explore the key components of a thorough orientation, discuss the legal OHS obligations of supervisors and address the distinct challenges encountered by new and young workers.

The session is open to workers at all levels, supervisors, HR professionals, and those eager to learn more about their OHS responsibilities.
