LIENS project to launch promotional video clip and other immigration sector initiatives

Premier Ghiz and others provide video testimonials

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – May 6, 2013 – Premier Robert Ghiz, along with Wade MacLauchlan, Robert Maddix, Gabriel Arsenault, Patrick Charles, Sheila MacLean and Isabelle Dasylva-Gill, each provide testimonials about the importance of hiring immigrants in a new video promoting the integration of francophone immigrants into the Island workforce.

This short video, produced by RDÉE Prince Edward Island’s LIENS project, will be launched Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in the Triple Room of Holland College’s Centre for Applied Science and Technology, located at 300, Kent St., Charlottetown.

The public is cordially invited to come and watch the première presentation of the video to learn why each of the interviewed guests believes it is important to consider hiring newcomers.

The RDÉE, the provincial francophone economic development council, will take advantage of the occasion to launch two other initiatives directly related to the LIENS project, whose acronym means « Linking economic immigration to our successes ».

Firstly, it will launch a new insert to the PEI Newcomers Guide on the Island’s Acadian and francophone community of PEI and on services available in French. From now on, the province and its immigration sector partners will distribute this guide to all newcomers to the province.

Finally, the RDÉE will launch, in conjunction with the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, the French component of the successful PEI Connectors Program. The first francophone “Connector” will be introduced. This program seeks to match newcomers with local entrepreneurial mentors.
