$1,345 in community food and money for food bank

TYNE VALLEY – Oct. 30, 2024 – The people of the Evangeline and surrounding areas have just contributed $1,345 worth of food and money to a community food drive for the West Prince Caring Cupboard, Tyne Valley branch. First, the public was invited to drop off non-perishable groceries in collection boxes at the Wellington Co-op during the first three weeks of October, for Co-op and Small Business Weeks. The value of the food was officially estimated at $720. Then, at a free Wellington Co-op Day barbecue on Oct. 18, customers deposited $553 in a donation box.This amount included the $100 on by Laurane Arsenault through a random draw of all donors that she donated back to the cause.) Similarly, people placed $72 in a donation box at the Provincial Credit Union (Évangéline branch). Barlow sincerely thanked the partners and the community for these contributions, delivered to Tyne Valley on Oct. 29, as the food will help feed many families in serious need at this very difficult time of year.
