ABRAM-VILLAGE – Oct. 30, 2024 – Marcel Caissie’s Grade 11 class from Évangéline School won this year’s contest for the class that collected the highest volume of food per student during the mid-October school food drive. The class won a crisp, brown $100 bill from Provincial Credit Union (Évangéline branch) since each student contributed an average of over 12 items. Caissie (wearing a green vest in the photo) is particularly proud of this achievement, since it’s very often his wife Denise Millette’s Grade 7 or 8 class that wins the annual championship. In the photo (back row, fourth from right), Credit Union marketing officer Diane McInnis presents the prize to the winning class. Alecia Arsenault, event coordinator for the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI (far right, front row), helped organize and promote the food drive for Co-op and Small Business Weeks. The 15 or so boxes filled with groceries were delivered to the West Prince Caring Cupboard food bank in Tyne Valley by the high school’s Human Values class.
