It pays to be generous

WELLINGTON – Oct. 23, 2020 – Forty-two people from the Evangeline and surrounding areas recently learned that it pays to be generous, to give a little to those who have less. Camilla Costain of St. Nicholas, in particular, saw proof of this fact as she won a beautiful high-pressure washer and a notebook.

All of these generous people had made a contribution of non-perishable food or money to the community food drive to help the food bank clients of the Tyne Valley branch of the West Prince Caring Cupboard. In the first three weeks of October, locals contributed over $2,171 in food and money to the cause. Each contributor received a ballot for a random draw; some people made more than one contribution, so they received more than one ballot. Some therefore won more than one prize.

The Wellington Co-op, which served as the collection location for this community food drive, provided the main prize (the pressure washer). The other organizing partners, the Évangéline-Central Credit Union, RDÉE Prince Edward Island, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI and the Wellington Rural Action Centre, also contributed a large number of other prizes.

Winners can simply drop by the Wellington Co-op to claim their prizes. Here is the list.
