List of events for Co-op and Small Business Week

Here is a list of French-language events planned for Co-op and Small Business Week, Oct. 15-21.

Oct. 10-19 – FOOD DRIVE to collect non-perishable goods for Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank and Tyne Valley Caring Cupboard. You’re invited to drop off your food contributions to Evangeline-Central Credit Union or Wellington Co-op. Your name will be entered into a draw for a $100 gift card at Wellington Co-op. Or, alternatively, your child can bring your contributions to Evangeline School where the class that collects the most food will win $100 in cash.

Sunday, Oct. 15 – FAMILY BENEFIT MEGA-BINGO at Evangeline School cafeteria in Abram-Village at 2 p.m. All profits to be contributed to Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank and Tyne Valley Caring Cupboard. More than $3,000 worth of prizes and gift cards to be won! 15 games, each with a prize worth at least $100. Bring your dabbers. Price: $5 for booklet of two cards. Cash donations also accepted. 50-50 tickets will be sold. Canteen service to be provided. When shopping at Wellington Co-op, you could get coupons for free bingo cards. You could also win bingo card coupons through online contests at www.facebook.com/rdeeipe. This event is presented jointly by the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI, RDÉE PEI, the Wellington Rural Action Centre, Wellington Co-op and Evangeline-Central Credit Union. Monday, Oct. 16 – FREE ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING SESSIONS with Ron Robichaud, entrepreneurship specialist from Nova Scotia, in French at the Carrefour de l’Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown. 8:30 a.m. – Breakfast. 9 a.m. – Workshop on launching a new business. 12 p.m. – Lunch. 1 p.m. – Workshop on financial planning. Tuesday, Oct. 17 – ENTREPRENEURS’ AND CO-OPERATORS’ LUNCHEON with guest speaker Ron Robichaud, entrepreneurship specialist from Nova Scotia, who will talk about “How to become more competitive in today’s business world”. At the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside at 12 noon. During this free event, which offers you a delicious lunch, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI will also launch its entrepreneurial awards competition. Door prizes will be handed out. Sponsored by the CBDC Central PEI, RDÉE PEI and the Wellington Rural Action Centre. Mandatory registration before Oct. 11. Wednesday, Oct. 18 – OPEN HOUSE at Le Chez-Nous community care center in Wellington starting at 1:30 p.m. Music, snacks, visits with residents and door prizes. Come and meet the residents, many of whom are founders of the area’s many co-ops.

Thursday, Oct. 19 – CREDIT UNION DAY at the three branches of the Evangeline-Central Credit Union in Wellington, Tyne Valley and O’Leary. Draws, prizes and snacks. Drop off your non-perishable food donations for the food banks.

Thursday, Oct. 19 – CO-OPERATORS’ SUPPER for representatives of each local co-op, who will be invited to share about their recent successes and future plans. During this informal supper or “Co-op Forum”, to be held at the Evangeline School-Community Centre in Abram-Village, the Co-op Order of Merit award will also be presented to a deserving co-operator. (Participation by invitation only.)

Friday, Oct. 20 – CO-OP DAY at Wellington Co-op. Throughout the day, everyone who makes a purchase wins a prize (some prizes will be bigger, some smaller). Come one, come all to shop and to win a prize!
