Minister Gilles Arsenault to be keynote speaker at “Economy, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Environment Evening”

With supper and two other presentations on sustainable development

ABRAM-VILLAGE – Feb. 6, 2025 – At the first-ever “Economy, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Environment Evening” on Monday, March 3, at the Village musical acadien in Abram-Village, participants will get the opportunity to welcome the provincial Minister of the Environment, Energy and Climate Action, Gilles Arsenault, as their keynote speaker. The evening will be held in French.

“During this Evening of the 4 Es, as we’ve nicknamed it, we’ll be discussing economic and entrepreneurial development, as seen from a sustainable development perspective, and green trades and jobs,” points out Raymond J. Arsenault, manager of the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI, which is organizing this free event with supper, in collaboration with RDÉE Prince Edward Island.

“Since the Honorable Gilles Arsenault was formerly minister responsible for economic development and is now responsible for the environment, we invited him to come and talk to us about our economic development situation in general and more specifically the development of the green economy on the Island,” explains the evening’s organizer. “He’ll also talk to us about trends in the green economy, then share his predictions of where our government thinks we’re headed in the coming years, all from a sustainable economic and entrepreneurial development perspective.”

He will also mention the support programs offered by the province to help businesses and organizations make the shift towards sustainable development and the adoption of green energies.

This event, starting at 6:30 p.m., is open to all entrepreneurs and employers, leaders of co-operatives and community organizations, and all individuals interested in the development of the green economy.

EVENING AGENDA

The Evening of the 4 Es will begin with a word of welcome and a bit of background by the Chamber of Commerce’s management. This will be followed by a supper (fricot and meatpie, small dessert, tea or coffee).

The leaders of RDÉE PEI’s Sustainable Development IMPACT project will speak briefly about the benefits of this support program and how it can help other businesses and community organizations make the shift toward sustainable practices.

This will be followed by a presentation from RDÉE PEI’s new project, “Promotion of Green Trades and Jobs”. They are seeking the collaboration of Island businesses and employers who offer “green” jobs to help encourage high school students to consider such careers, trades and jobs. (The program may also be officially launched during the event if organizers can confirm the participation of federal authorities and finalize other details).

The last part of the evening will be reserved for Minister Arsenault’s speech. Depending on the time, he may answer a few questions from the crowd about the theme of the event. The entire evening should last no more than two hours.

This evening is co-sponsored by the projects “Solution Succession” and “Promotion of Green Trades and Jobs”.

Please note that free registration is required by Feb. 26, 2025, by emailing marthe@rdeeipe.org or by calling 902-854-3439.
