WELLINGTON – Sept. 25, 2018 – Six events are being planned by and for Evangeline area co-operators and co-operatives Oct. 14-20 on the occasion of 2018 Co-op and Small Business Week. Some of these events are held annually while others are brand-new.
The biggest event is without a doubt the « Co-operators’ Forum » being held this year at the Centre Goéland in Cape Egmont Thursday, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m. Two representatives of each of the area’s co-ops are invited to attend to share their recent successes, challenges and future plans. Towards the end of this free, informal supper, which is sponsored by the Evangeline-Central Credit Union, the Co-op Order of Merit will be presented to a deserving person. (Attendance by invitation only.)
AT THE CHEZ-NOUS
The Chez-nous Co-operative in Wellington will celebrate Co-op Week as well as its 25th anniversary with three events. The first will be a mass for seniors celebrated by Father Eddie Cormier Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, a co-op bingo will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. All seniors from the community are invited to attend. A great variety of prizes, mostly donated by local co-ops, will be won. A light lunch will be served. As an admission fee, attendees are invited to contribute non-perishable food items that will later be given to families in need.
Then on Friday, Oct. 19, the Chez-nous will host its first ever dance for residents of the home and other local seniors from 7-9 p.m. Great appropriate dance music will be played.
CREDIT UNION AND CO-OP
